    Cold Coffee Recipe

Making iced coffee at home does not need any special or fancy equipment, it is a beginner-friendly recipe too. All you need is a blender and a few basic ingredients. Although the coffee frappe recipe is very basic, it can easily be turned into mocha coffee too! And what makes this recipe special is the use of melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder. It is rich and oh-so-delicious, especially with whipped cream on top! Checkout other summer special recipes too.

    Mocha Cold Coffee Recipe

    Key Ingredients

Instant Coffee Powder is used for making iced coffee and while any brand of instant coffee granules can be used, it is best to use the one without any added chicory.

We will use Cold Milk that has been pre-boiled and cooled down for making the best cold coffee. It is optional to use full cream milk for this recipe. It is also possible to make it vegan by using plant-based milks like almond milk, soy milk or oats milk.

Vanilla Ice Cream is used along with other ingredients to make rich, thick iced coffee. It is however optional and can be skipped too.

Melted Chocolate makes the ice coffee decadent and provides it with a mocha undertone. You can also use cocoa powder but chocolate adds to the richness. You can use any type of melted chocolate – milk or dark. If you have chocolate chips, just heat them in a microwave safe bowl in bursts of 10 seconds until melted. Alternatively, you can use a double boiler method to melt chocolate too.

Ice Cubes are added both while blending the iced coffee and before serving it!

Whipped Cream – dairy or non-dairy based can be used to garnish the cold coffee and it can topped off with melted chocolate too. Additionally, some vanilla ice cream can also be added on top for extra richness.

For full list of ingredients and exact measurements, check the recipe below.

How to make Cold Coffee Recipe

    Top Tips

All the ingredients should be cold or at room temperature for best results.

Do not blend the coffee until it is ready to be served. As ice cubes are added while blending and while serving, it could make the coffee watery if left out for longer duration.

    Substitutions & Variations

Cocoa Powder can be used to replace the melted chocolate in this iced coffee recipe. Use 2 teaspoon of cocoa powder for two servings of cold coffee. Alternatively, you can also use chocolate syrup.

Plant based milks like almond milk, soy milk and oats milk can be used to make this recipe vegan. Avoid ice cream altogether or you can use vegan ice cream too.

I have used non-dairy whipped cream to top off the cold coffee, however regular whipped cream can be used too.

Other flavors like caramel sauce, vanilla can also be added as preferred.

    Storing & Serving Suggestions

Cold Coffee is best served chilled and cold immediately after preparing. Keep it refrigerated until it is ready to be served. It is best to keep all the ingredients ready and refrigerated too, to make the coffee quickly.

Add 2-4 ice cubes into the blender.

Now add 2 tablespoon melted chocolate.

Blend at medium speed for 2-3 minutes until the coffee is frothy.

Prepare the serving glasses by dripping melted chocolate along the sides.

Pour the blended cold coffee into the serving glasses.

Top off the iced coffee with whipped cream. Drizzle melted chocolate or chocolate syrup on top – both optional.

Serve immediately. Keep refrigerated and add additional toppings as preferred.

    Recipe Notes

    • I used non-dairy whipping cream powder to make the cream – it just should be mixed with ice cold water (60ml for 100gms of powder) and whipped until soft peaks. It works great with both cake icing and as topping.
    • The quantity of sugar depends on the sweetness preference.
    • Adjust the amount of ice cream or it can be skipped altogether.
